About Tara Hack
Tara Hack has built her career on the belief that every song should feel like it was written for the person right in front of her. Raised on Long Island, she discovered her voice performing in Penn Station, where a song had just seconds to stop busy commuters. Encouraged by her father, a Long Island Rail Road conductor, Tara began busking as a teen—a formative experience that sharpened her storytelling and rooted her music in deep empathy.
With tips collected from the subway, she self-funded early recordings, culminating in a 2019 session at London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios. That project, paid for with pocket change, proved she could turn street-corner sincerity into polished, world-class production, including a cover of Come Together in honor of the album’s 50th anniversary.
Tara’s recordings quickly gained attention. In 2020, her duet Overthinking with Ryan Cabrera, She Wants to be Loved (Velvet Ch. and Meg Ryan Disorder) and Let Go (The Pulse) all landed her on Sirius Xm. In 2023, her single Utopia was spotlighted on Train Tracks, hosted by Pat Monahan of Train, while Run To found a home on Coffeehouse. Her holiday original I Wish That It Could Be Christmas also aired on The Jolly Channel in 2024, and further expanded her national reach.
While performing in the UK, Tara caught the attention of industry veterans Ron Altbach (King Harvest), Phil Pickett (Culture Club, Sailor), producer Benny D (Boy George, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams) songwriter Joe “2 Ton” Killington and UK garage pioneer K. Warren, leading to a three-month creative residency in England that deepened her sound and expanded her collaborative reach.
Her single Blue Smoke (2025) was featured on WFUV’s New York Slice, and her collaborative effort with her UK team resulted in the song Feelings being played on Splash 98.5. Tara was able to showcase both songs during her live performance in Times Square in 2025, cementing her status as a rising voice in New York’s indie scene.
